THE AUCTION IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!

It's never too early to think about gathering donations for the online auction...

The Midtown West Online Auction springs onto the scene April 19–May 13
and your contributions can mean the difference between a good year and
a BLOWOUT year!

Curious about how you can help?

1. SOLICIT DONATIONS: Next time you're shopping at your favorite
boutique or grabbing a pie from your local pizza joint, ask the
manager to donate a tax-deductible gift certificate. If they don't
have a gift certificate but want to donate, The Fundraising Committee
can help create one. Gift certificates can be deposited in the drop-
down safe in the family center. Or, if a store wants to donate a
physical item like a mug, a doll, a model car or an evening gown,
Fundraising will accept the item, take a photo for the website and
store it till auction time. Finally, ask your friends to donate
services... do you know a vocal coach? A hair stylist? A resume
doctor? A babysitter? Ask "Experts" to donate hours of their time and skills!

2. JOIN THE AUCTION COMMITTEE: There are a variety of tasks from
simple, one-shot jobs like phoning a donor to longer-term jobs like
helping post items onto the website. Make and hang posters, stuff
flyers into mailboxes, tutor "newbies" about how to use the cMarket
site or stuff envelopes to thank past donors and ask for repeat
solicitations.... there's something for everyone with every skill
level and availability!

3. TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW: Once the website is launched for the year,
pass around the website info to EVERYONE! The more people who know
about it, the more bidders we'll get and the more money we'll make.
Also, cMarket tracks how many viewers and bidders our site gets, and
this brings us bonuses. Large numbers of "hits" also help us solicit
donations—local merchants are more likely to donate if they know they
are getting wide publicity.

Please pop by a Fundraising Meeting—Some of the top solicitors will be
sharing tips on how to get merchants to give. We'd love to hear your
ideas... The Online Auction is our biggest fundraiser and you are the
key to its success!

Any parent musicians out there?

MTW has a few events each year where parent musicians provide music. Besides the Hoedown, we play at the Martin Luther King diner and for the 1st grade musical. Maybe other events, too.

Please let us know what instrument(s) you play, how well you read music and breifly what kind of experience you have.
