Mission Statement
The mission of Midtown West School is to provide a child-centered environment that will inspire and challenge all of our students to become independent thinkers, problem solvers and lifelong learners. Midtown West is dedicated to establishing a collaborative spirit among parents, faculty and staff to ensure that all children reach their academic goals.
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is comprised of staff members, the Principal, the PTA President, four other parent representatives and one alternate. The parent body elects the SLT members at the general PTA meeting in June. Each segment of the school population is represented, i.e., lower (K & 1st), middle (2nd & 3rd), and upper (4th & 5th) grades. We also try to ensure that the ethnic diversity of the school is reflected.
The SLT meets monthly and acts as an advisory board to the Principal. The SLT makes recommendations to the Principal and works in cooperation with the staff to construct a Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) for the school. MTW parents are invited to attend meetings as observers. Minutes and schedules are posted on the PTA bulletin board outside room 210. Parents may submit agenda items to parent representatives and PTA officers.
