Mission Statement
The Extended Day Program furthers the mission of Midtown West as a school that supports children within families. The primary goal of the program is to provide child care for working families. A strong sense of continuity for our children is maintained as they move from the school day into the after-school hours by using Midtown West facilities and staff whenever possible and to provide high quality activities that stimulate children intellectually, socially and physically in a safe, nurturing environment.
Because we believe that parent participation is an integral part of designing and assuring a program that meets the needs of all of our children, we invite parents to join our committee and to offer suggestions.
What Does The Extended Day Program Offer For My Child?
The Extended Day Program at Midtown West offers a rich variety of fun activities for all grade levels at Midtown West. Activities can include: art, baseball, basketball, chess, cooking, computer, dance (ballet, modern and tap), digital photagraphy, fencing, homework help, karate, lego robotics, piano, science, sign language, soccer TADA!, tennis, tumbling and more.
The Head Teachers are professional teachers who are experienced and nurturing. They are drawn from our Midtown West teaching staff and other NYC artists and professionals. Assistant Teachers also have experience working with children. In addition to having a qualified staff, the program maintains a low adult/child ratio.
Hours
The program operates daily when school is in session from 3:00 pm to 5:45 PM. Additional mini camps are offered during many of theDOE scheduled half days and during the mid-winter and spring recess for additional fees.
