PTA COMMITTEES - OVERVIEW
MTW has a highly successful Parent Teacher Association that helps to facilitate many of the programs in the school. The PTA raises money, supports and helps to organize PTA functions, school events and classroom curriculum projects. All parents and guardians are automatically members of the PTA. Over time, they will discover the myriad ways in which they can become integral partners in the MTW community. Look to the drop down sections on this page for descriptions of the current PTA Committees. Parents learn to look at the monthly calendars that are disseminated throughout the school (also posted on this website under Calendars) and try to attend some committee meetings. This is the best way to "try them on for size." Parents don't have to volunteer for anything their first time but can check out a meeting and see if they're interested. They will get a better feel for the school and start to understand more clearly how things work. There are several levels of involvement for every committee - from very heavy involvement as a chair person to a lighter commitment taking on 1 or 2 simple committee tasks with flexible hour requirements.
There are numerous permanent standing commitees and several ad hoc committees that can change from year to year. See the listings in the drop down section on this page.
